Additional information

Turkey's bimetallic lira series, launched after the redenomination that dropped six zeros from the Turkish lira in 2005, included several wildlife reverses chosen partly to signal ecological responsibility alongside monetary reform. The loggerhead sea turtle was a deliberate selection — Turkey hosts some of the Mediterranean's most significant loggerhead nesting beaches, particularly at Dalyan and Patara, which had been subject to intense conservation battles against coastal development through the 1980s and 1990s.

KM#1264 is a circulating business strike, not a commemorative issue.
