Obverse description Draped bust of Carlo Besso Ferrero, Prince of Masserano, facing right, with long flowing hair in the late Baroque style. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and drapery at the shoulder. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading CAR·BESS·PRIN·MESSARANI, identifying the ruler as Carlo Besso, Prince of Masserano. The coin is struck within a toothed or beaded border that frames the entire obverse field.
