| Beschrijving keerzijde | The centre of the bimetallic reverse displays the large numeral '1' superimposed over an elaborate symmetrical arabesque ornamental motif in the Seljuk tradition, rendered in raised relief. Below the numeral, the denomination legend 'TÜRK LİRASI' is inscribed in Latin characters across the lower portion of the inner disc. The golden outer ring is adorned with two symmetrical olive branch sprays flanking the design, and at the top a crescent and five-pointed star — the national symbols of Turkey — appear prominently above the branches. The year of issue appears at the base of the outer ring, enclosed within parentheses. |

The Turkish lira endured one of the most sustained currency collapses in modern monetary history during this period, losing roughly 80% of its value against the dollar between 2021 and 2023 alone. At that exchange rate, a circulating 1 Lira coin was worth a fraction of a US cent — raising the perennial question of whether the metal cost of production exceeded the coin's face value.
Turkey has periodically redenominated its currency to manage accumulated inflation damage; the 2005 redenomination removed six zeros from the old lira. These post-redenomination coins are the second generation of that reset.
