| 备注 |
Malta gained independence in 1964 but continued using the Maltese pound until a decimal reform in 1972 introduced the lira, subdivided into 100 cents. This note belongs to the first De La Rue series issued under that reformed system, with the Central Bank having only been established in 1968 — meaning the institution itself was barely five years old when these were printed.
De La Rue's involvement was essentially inherited from the colonial-era relationship with the Currency Board. The watermark remains the sole mechanical security feature, modest even by early 1970s standards.
