| Obverse description | The note is framed within an elaborate letterpress border of scrolling foliate ornaments, with a winged griffin vignette at the lower left corner. The large bold denomination numeral '1' occupies the centre, surmounted by the patriotic inscription 'MONETA PATRIOTTICA' and underscored by 'LIRE UNA CORRENTE', with the date '1848' set within a cartouche at the foot of the design.
