Obverse description The note is framed within an elaborate letterpress border of scrolling foliate ornaments, with a winged griffin vignette at the lower left corner. The large bold denomination numeral '1' occupies the centre, surmounted by the patriotic inscription 'MONETA PATRIOTTICA' and underscored by 'LIRE UNA CORRENTE', with the date '1848' set within a cartouche at the foot of the design. The overall composition is characteristic of the emergency issues produced by the Provisional Government of Venice during the period of insurrection.

Reverse description The reverse is plain paper, bearing a single circular control stamp applied in red ink and positioned left of centre. The stamp encloses the winged Lion of Saint Mark — the traditional emblem of the Venetian Republic — with the supervisory legend 'CONTROLERIA 1848' inscribed around the circumference.
