| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, adorned with a pearl necklace and earring, engraved in the style of Jacques Roëttiers. The effigy is rendered with fine detail typical of mid-18th century Habsburg portraiture. A Latin legend commencing at approximately 7 o'clock encircles the bust, abbreviating her full imperial titles as Empress of the Romans and Queen of Germany, Hungary, Bohemia, Archduchess of Austria, and Duchess of Burgundy. The legend reads: M·T·D·G·R·IMP·G·H·B·REG·A·A·D·BURG·. The field surrounding the portrait is plain. |
