| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a bold Maltese cross with splayed, forked arms, occupying the majority of the reverse field and rendered in confident relief consistent with hammered technique. A small decorative motif, possibly a star or pellet ornament, appears above the cross at the uppermost arm. The surrounding circular Latin legend incorporates a devotional inscription with the mint date appearing at the conclusion of the legend. The coin's irregular flan causes partial weakness in the peripheral legend, characteristic of low-denomination hammered billon issues of the period. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Desana was among the smallest feudal territories in the Po Valley — a county of negligible strategic weight, yet one that jealously exercised its minting rights throughout the sixteenth century. Delfino Tizzone, who held the county from the 1570s, issued coinage in denominations almost comically disproportionate to his political standing. The liard was a fractional billon struck largely for local market transactions, circulating in a region where Spanish Milan and Savoy dominated all meaningful commerce.
The "var" notations against both MB#121 and MIR#506 suggest die differences not fully catalogued — unsurprising given the irregular production conditions of minor Italian feudal mints.
