Additional information

Romania's postwar coinage reform took years to stabilize, and 1924 pattern strikes like this one were part of an extended trial process as the National Bank evaluated compositions and designs before committing to full production. The circulating 1 Leu series that followed was ultimately struck in cupro-nickel, making copper trial pieces documentary evidence of a path not taken.

KM#Pn205 is among a clutch of 1924 patterns in differing metals — copper, aluminum, nickel — struck for official evaluation. Surviving examples are institutional in origin, not trade pieces.
