Reverse description A female figure personifying Romania, dressed in traditional Romanian peasant costume with embroidered garments, strides purposefully to the right across a harvested field strewn with sheaves of grain. She raises both arms, holding aloft what appears to be a garland or chain, in a gesture of triumph or offering. A crescent ornament is visible at her chest. The denomination 1 LEU appears in two lines to the right of the figure, while the legend ROMANIA curves along the left periphery and the date appears at lower right. The engraver's name BASSARAB is incuse in the lower field. A beaded inner border frames the entire reverse design.
