Obverse description Central field occupied by a heraldic shield bearing a diagonal band charged with five stars, rendered in fine line engraving. The shield is of pointed form with a scalloped upper edge, occupying the majority of the coin's field. Surrounding the shield, a circular legend in raised Latin lettering reads: *Z. KÖN. MÜNZE I. GRIECHENL., meaning 'Royal Mint of Greece', separated by dot stops. The coin is bordered by a finely milled inner ring and a reeded outer rim.
