Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George I in mature second portrait, facing left, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair detail in the neoclassical style of engraver Jean-Auguste Barre. The circular Greek legend surrounds the bust, reading ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ. The date appears in the lower exergue, flanked by small decorative ornaments.
