Descrizione del dritto	The obverse is printed in red and pink tones on a fine guilloche underprint. At left, the national coat of arms of Honduras is rendered in an oval vignette with the inscription REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS around the shield. To the right, a three-quarter portrait of Lempira, the Lenca chieftain, faces right, wearing a traditional beaded headband. The upper margin bears the legends REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS, C.A. and BANCO CENTRAL DE HONDURAS, with the date 18 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1997 and the denomination UN LEMPIRA centered below.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse, rendered in red and green tones over a guilloche underprint, presents a panoramic vignette of the Mayan ruins of Copán, with the ball court and stairway (Juego de Pelota y Escalinata) occupying the center. A tall carved stela stands at the right edge of the scene. The bank name BANCO CENTRAL DE HONDURAS appears at the top, with the caption RUINAS DE COPAN / JUEGO DE PELOTA Y ESCALINATA inscribed in a panel at the lower center, and the numeral 1 and UN LEMPIRA at the lower right.
