Obverse description A fully armored knight stands facing left with head turned to the right, holding a ribbon or baton in his raised right hand; a heraldic lion shield appears behind him. The design is contained within a dotted inner circle, with the encircling Latin legend occupying the outer field. The execution is characteristic of late 17th-century Dutch civic coinage, rendered in a bold, slightly archaic hammered style.
