The shield displays the arms of England (three passant guardant lions) in the first and fourth quarters, France (three fleurs-de-lis) in the second quarter, Scotland (a rampant lion) in the third quarter upper, and Ireland (a harp) in the lower third quarter, in the heraldic arrangement of the Stuart dynasty. The shield is set upon a long cross fourchée whose extremities reach the beaded inner circle.
