Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse displays a stylized golden apple tree rendered in high relief, its gracefully drooping branches laden with clusters of small round fruit and delicate foliage, evoking the imagery of Latvian folk songs and mythology. The design is entirely pictorial with no inscriptions, allowing the ornamental tree to occupy the full field against a smooth, polished background. The composition is centrally placed, with the tree's roots suggested at the base, lending a naturalistic yet artistic character consistent with the Latvian folk tradition.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of Latvia's long-running series of small gold lats issued by the Bank of Latvia, this piece draws on a Latvian folk tale — the golden apple tree is a recurring motif in Latvian dainas, the traditional song poetry collected and systematized by Krišjānis Barons in the nineteenth century. The series as a whole was designed to anchor modern Latvian national identity to pre-Soviet cultural roots, a deliberate institutional choice in the years following independence.

The .9999 fineness is notably purer than most European bullion issues of the period. Fr#27 places it firmly within the Friedberg gold reference, confirming its recognized numismatic standing beyond regional catalogs.
