Aanvullende informatie

Latvia's one-lats circulation commemoratives were a deliberate cultural project run by the Bank of Latvia across the 2000s and early 2010s, each year pairing the denomination with a specific symbol of Latvian folk heritage. The kokle — a plucked zither-type instrument central to Baltic musical tradition — was an intentional choice for one of the final issues before Latvia's euro adoption, which took effect on January 1, 2014, effectively ending the lats coinage program entirely.

This piece saw only about a year of potential circulation before the lats was withdrawn.
