| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is bisected by a horizontal line dividing the design into two distinct registers. The upper register features the denomination numeral 1 above the inscription LATS, separated from the lower register by the horizontal line bearing the legend FOR FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY. The lower register depicts a silhouette of figures standing hand in hand, symbolising solidarity, with the emblem of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations positioned beneath the figural group. The composition commemorates the UN's 50th anniversary and Latvia's commitment to democratic values. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued in the first half-decade after Latvia reasserted independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, this coin commemorates the political transformation that followed the Singing Revolution — the mass Baltic civil resistance movement in which hundreds of thousands formed a human chain stretching from Tallinn to Vilnius. The Bank of Latvia had itself only been re-established in 1990, making this among its earliest commemorative silver issues.
