| 正面描述 | The obverse depicts a mother tenderly embracing an infant swathed in gilt swaddling-clothes, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The composition emphasizes the nurturing bond between mother and child, with the gilt elements providing a warm visual contrast to the sterling silver ground. The legend LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA arcs along the upper right periphery in Latin characters. |

Issued by the Bank of Latvia as part of its long-running collector series celebrating Latvian cultural and natural themes, the "Coin of Life" draws on Baltic folk cosmology — specifically the concept of the world tree, or Pasaules koks, a recurring motif in Latvian dainas (folk songs) catalogued extensively by Krišjānis Barons in the late 19th century. The gilding was applied selectively at the Mint of Lithuania, which struck several Latvian commemorative issues during this period under contract.
