| Beschrijving voorzijde | Circular flan bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in the field, arranged in four quadrants divided by a horizontal and vertical line, a typical layout for Maldivian hammered silver larins of this period. The legend names the Sultan as Iskandar, records the mint as Malé, and gives the Hijri regnal year 1070. The script is rendered in a bold, somewhat cursive hand consistent with hand-engraved Islamic coinage of the seventeenth century. The inscription reads in full: Iskandar / Struck in Malé / Year 1070. |
