| Beschrijving voorzijde | Round cast silver coin centered by a square perforation, around which four large Chinese characters are arranged in the cardinal positions reading 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo), the reign title and currency designation of Emperor Thiệu Trị. Above the square hole, two stylized celestial orbs — one plain and one rayed, representing the sun and moon — are rendered in relief amid cloud scrollwork. Below the square hole, a finely detailed lotus plant in full bloom is depicted in low relief, a symbol of purity and imperial virtue. The field is plain and unadorned, with the legends and decorative motifs occupying the four quadrants around the central perforation. The overall style is consistent with Vietnamese imperial cast coinage of the Nguyễn dynasty. |

Thiệu Trị reigned for just six years before dying at thirty-seven, making his coinage among the shorter-lived issues of the Nguyễn dynasty. The lang — a weight-based monetary unit rooted in Chinese tael tradition — was produced at the Huế imperial mint under direct court supervision, with silver sourced partly through trade with Chinese merchants operating through the port at Đà Nẵng.
KM#295 is occasionally found with minor surface adjustment marks, a consequence of the mint's practice of hand-finishing pieces to meet strict weight tolerances.
