Urdubad was a mint town in the Sind region, active under Abbasid administration before passing through successive regional governors whose authority — and names — were sometimes deliberately omitted from coinage. Anonymous copper fulus of this type were likely struck for purely local exchange, the issuing authority relying on the mint toponym alone to establish acceptance. The absence of a ruler's name was not always a political statement; in provincial minting, it was often simply administrative indifference to small-denomination copper.
