Commenti	The P#19 series spans a three-year window during which Malawi was still operating under Hastings Banda's one-party state, a period when the Reserve Bank maintained tight control over note issuance and circulation data. De La Rue supplied Malawi through most of the Banda decades, and this denomination was a genuine workhorse in daily transactions — the 1 Kwacha sat at a level of real purchasing utility before successive devaluations through the early 1990s eroded its practical value. The watermark is the sole security provision on this issue — no security thread, no fluorescent ink. Relatively modest even by the standards of the period.
