This piece belongs to Turkey's "Anatolian Seljuks and Beyliks" commemorative series, which the Darphane issued to highlight pre-Ottoman Turkic dynasties. The Timurids, however, were Central Asian in origin — Timur's empire centered on Samarkand, not Anatolia — making their inclusion in this series an editorial choice that reflects modern Turkey's broader identification with the Turkic world rather than strict geographical heritage.
