Reverse description The central brass field displays a close-up, highly detailed portrait of a Tarsus Çatalburun dog facing the viewer, showcasing its distinctive bifurcated or double-split nose, a unique anatomical trait of this rare Turkish breed. The dog's broad muzzle, deeply set expressive eyes, and long pendant ears are rendered in high relief with fine artistic detail. The copper-nickel ring surrounding the central design bears the breed name 'TARSUS ÇATALBURUN KÖPEĞİ' inscribed along the lower left arc of the field.

Additional information

The "çatalburun" (literally "fork-nose") is a breed of pointer dog indigenous to Turkey, particularly the Tarsus region of Mersin province — one of only three known dog breeds in the world with a bifurcated or split nose. This coin is part of the Darphane's ongoing native breeds series, which has drawn considerably more collector attention abroad than domestically.
