The cross is plain-armed and centrally positioned, consistent with the Krummsteert type common to Frisian and East Frisian lordships of the period. The surrounding legend SIT NOMEN DNI BENEDICTUM IEVE — invoking the Benedictus formula — is distributed around the periphery in Gothic script with pellet stops. The overall design follows the established north German cross-and-legend reverse convention of the early 15th century.
