| Obverse description | A rampant lion facing left occupies the central field, rendered in the bold, stylized Gothic manner typical of medieval north German coinage. The beast is depicted with open jaws, raised forepaws, and a curled tail, all within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend reads + HAIO HARLDE CAPITALIS IEVER, referencing the ruling lord Hajo Harlda of Jever, separated by pellet stops. The die work is characteristic of hammered technique, with uneven relief and slight flan irregularities consistent with mid-15th century Low Saxon minting practice. |
