The inscription on the reverse declares the legal tender status of the state treasury note within the borders of the Republic of Estonia. The denomination in both the new kroon and the original marka value appears within the reverse text. |

Estonia's currency reform of 1927–28 replaced the marka with the kroon at a rate of 100 marka to 1 kroon. Rather than printing entirely new low-denomination notes, the Ministry of Finance opted to overprint existing 100 marka stock — a cost-saving measure that also shortened the transition period. The overprint itself was applied at Riigi Trükikoda, the same Tallinn press that had produced much of Estonia's earlier paper currency.
Pick 61 is one of the more direct physical records of that conversion: the underlying marka note and its new kroon valuation exist on the same piece of paper, separated by nothing but ink.
