Buchhandlung F. Steurer was a bookshop in Linz that issued this emergency small-change note during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria in the years immediately following the First World War. Municipal authorities, businesses, and even private traders across Austria were permitted — or simply tolerated — in producing their own Notgeld when official coinage became functionally unavailable.
