Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborately intertwined royal cypher of Frederik IV, formed by two interlaced script F's and Roman numeral IV rendered in flowing calligraphic style, surmounted by a large ornate royal crown with arched bands and cross finial. The monogram is set within a plain inner field without a border circle, with the crown positioned immediately above. The peripheral legend in Latin reads DOMINUS MIHI ADIUTOR (The Lord be my aid), separated by dot stops, running clockwise around the coin. The overall design is executed in a bold Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Danish milled coinage.
