| Obverse description | Crowned royal cypher of Frederik III occupies the central field within a beaded circle, surmounted by a royal crown that breaks through both the beaded circle and the cloud motif positioned below. The cloud, inscribed with the devotional motto EBEN-EZER (Hebrew: 'Hitherto hath the Lord helped us'), emerges from within the beaded border. The surrounding legend bears the Latin royal motto DOMINVS PROVIDEBIT ('The Lord will provide') interspersed with mullet stops, with the date 1659 appearing at the end of the inscription. |
