| Obverse description | Unadorned right-facing bust of King Christian IX of Denmark, rendered in fine relief with naturalistically detailed wavy hair and a full beard. The portrait is struck in a restrained, academic style characteristic of mid-to-late 19th-century Scandinavian coinage. The circular legend reads CHRISTIAN IX KONGE AF DANMARK, with the engraver's initials CS and the date 1875 incused in the lower exergual area beneath the bust. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

| Reverse description | Central shield bearing the Danish national arms, depicting three crowned golden lions passant amid nine red hearts on a blue field, surmounted by a royal crown with a cross finial. Flanking the shield are two heraldic supporters: a leaping dolphin to the left and a wheat or barley ear to the right, both rendered in fine relief. The denomination 1 KRONE is inscribed in bold lettering below the shield in the lower field. The design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse. |
