Aanvullende informatie

Hanau-Münzenberg's billon kreuzer issues of the 1760s reflect the county's persistent struggle to maintain a viable small-denomination coinage during a period when silver content in petty coins across the Holy Roman Empire had been debased to near-irrelevance. William IX was only a teenager when these were struck under regency authority — he wouldn't assume full control of the county until 1764, making the 1765–66 dating among the earliest issues to bear his name as reigning count. The county would eventually pass to Hesse-Kassel in 1785 upon his succession there.
