Obverse description Central field features a cross pattée with the date numerals distributed within the four quarters. At the centre of the cross, the Bohemian lion shield is depicted in low relief. A partial circular legend surrounds the design, reading MAXIMILIANVS II D G R I S A, rendered in Gothic-influenced Latin characters typical of Habsburg coinage of the period. The overall design is characteristic of the small hammered Kreuzer denomination struck under Emperor Maximilian II.
