Obverse lettering COMES GORICIE
Reverse description A large multi-spoked wheel or radiate cross design fills the entire inner field, enclosed within a beaded circle, the spokes extending from a central boss to the inner border in a wheel-like pattern characteristic of Tyrolean-area kreuzers of this period. The surrounding legend, divided between the quarters of the design, reads ILLUSTRIS ARCHDVX (Illustrious Archduke), referencing Maximilian I's title as Archduke of Austria. The lettering is distributed across the four quadrants in abbreviated form, consistent with the cramped flan of a hammered issue.
