Obverse description Central field bears the crowned Wittelsbach lozenge shield, displaying the characteristic blue and white diagonal fusils of Bavaria, surmounted by a princely crown. The shield is set against a plain field and enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The encircling Latin legend reads MAX. D.G. C. P. R. BAV. D. S. R. I. E., identifying Maximilian I as Count Palatine of the Rhine, Duke of Bavaria, and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, separated by rosette stops.

Reverse description Central device depicts a small imperial orb bearing the numeral '1' denoting the kreuzer denomination, set at the intersection of a cross whose arms extend to the beaded inner circle, with the date divided by the cross arms. The surrounding Latin legend references Emperor Ferdinand II as Roman Emperor, reading FER. II. ROM. IMP. SEM. AV., separated by stops and enclosed within a beaded border, in keeping with standard small silver coinage of the period.
