| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Montfort, surmounted by a crowned helmet with mantling, all enclosed within a wreath or cartouche. The armorial device is rendered in the baroque heraldic style typical of late 17th-century German minor states. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the central device, reading IONNES·COM·DE·MONTF, identifying the issuing count. The coin's border is delineated by a beaded or dotted rim. |

Montfort-Peggau was a tiny territorial subdivision of the broader Montfort comital holdings in what is now Vorarlberg and the Tyrol fringes — a jurisdiction so minor that its independent coinage output was negligible and short-lived. The 1680 kreuzers attributable to this line fall within the administration of Johann VIII, whose county retained nominal minting rights under the Holy Roman Empire despite possessing almost no economic scale to justify exercising them. Issues like KM#71 survive in small numbers simply because so few were ever struck.
