| Obverse description | The obverse is divided vertically into two fields by a central line. In the left field, a crowned and draped bust of the Virgin Mary faces forward, her hands clasped in a devotional pose. In the right field, a rampant lion faces left, representing the heraldic arms of the Abbey of Kempten. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border. The circumferential legend reads IOH: EVCH: D: G: AB: KEMP:, identifying the issuing abbot John Eucharius of Wolffurt. |
