Neuchâtel passed to Henri I of Orléans-Longueville in 1573 after a prolonged succession dispute, and his subsequent minting activity was modest — small billon issues produced under comital rights that predated any formal ducal elevation. The celery leaf varieties within this type reflect die variation rather than intentional design changes, and Froidevaux's classification separates them precisely on that basis.
