Obverse description Central shield bearing quartered arms of Chalon and Neuchâtel, with an inescutcheon displaying the Prussian eagle, the whole surmounted by a royal crown. The crowned shield is framed by the surrounding legend in Latin, identifying the issuing sovereign. The heraldic composition is rendered in the neoclassical engraving style characteristic of late 18th-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
