Obverse description Central field dominated by a large saltire (cross of Saint Andrew) dividing the surface into four quadrants, each containing a heraldic shield. The upper quadrant displays the Imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire surmounted by a crown; the left quadrant bears the Austrian fess; the right quadrant contains the Styrian panther; and the lower quadrant shows a crowned device. The composition is rendered in bold relief typical of mid-fifteenth-century Austrian hammered coinage, with a beaded inner border partially visible at the periphery.
