Brandenburg-Bayreuth was one of the Hohenzollern cadet territories, administered separately from Prussia proper until its absorption into the Prussian state in 1791. Frederick III — Frederick the Margrave, not to be confused with the Prussian kings bearing that name — ruled Bayreuth from 1735 until his death in 1763, a period during which the Seven Years' War gutted the margraviate's finances and interrupted normal copper coinage production. KM#209 is a relatively short-lived type within his reign issues.
