Obverse description The obverse features the crowned coat of arms of Baden — a shield bearing a diagonal band of lozenges — flanked by two rampant griffin supporters, each facing inward toward the shield. A royal crown surmounts the escutcheon. The legend BADEN arcs across the upper field, while the denomination 1. KREUZER and the date 1871 appear in two lines across the lower field below the arms. The coin's border is defined by a continuous ring of fine denticles.
