The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown. The legend BADEN arcs across the upper field, while SCHEIDE- / MÜNZE appears in two lines across the lower field. The design is executed in high relief with fine milled border. |

Within the central field, a five-line inscription reads VON GROSHERZOG / KARL / NACH 50 JHR. / AM 22.AUG. / 1868, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Baden Constitution granted by Grand Duke Karl on 22 August 1818.
