| Popis rubu | Central shield bearing the Carinthian lion rampant, set within a cross pattée that divides the field into four quarters, each containing additional heraldic elements representing the Habsburg hereditary lands. A beaded inner circle frames the composition, with the Latin legend running continuously around the outer border, abbreviating the ruler's titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Habsburg, and Margrave. The overall design follows the standard multi-part armorial type typical of early seventeenth-century Habsburg billon coinage. |

These issues span the opening years of the Thirty Years' War, when Ferdinand II was simultaneously prosecuting military campaigns across the Empire and pushing aggressive Counter-Reformation policies through his hereditary lands. Carinthia's Protestant nobility had largely been expelled or forcibly converted by 1628 — the same year this type ceases. The St. Veit mint, one of the oldest in the Habsburg hereditary territories, was producing small billon coinage at scale to meet the chronic shortage of petty currency that wartime disruption and deliberate currency debasement had created throughout the region.
