1 Kreuzer - Ferdinand II Klagenfurt

Ferdinand II ruled the Inner Austrian territories — Styria, Carinthia, and Carniola — from 1590 before inheriting the imperial title in 1619, and his small silver issues from the Klagenfurt mint fall entirely within that regional period. The Klagenfurt facility was one of several Inner Austrian mints competing for limited bullion during a period of near-constant military expenditure against Ottoman incursions along the southeastern frontier.

Ferdinand's aggressive Counter-Reformation policies drove significant population displacement from Carinthia during these decades, disrupting local commerce and the very circulation these kreuzers were struck to serve.
