| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a long cross with four arms extending to a beaded inner circle, with a small shield bearing the arms of Kempten (a crowned eagle displayed) at the center of the cross. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are plain. A circular Latin legend in Gothic lettering surrounds the design within the beaded border, reading MON - NOV - CIVI - CAMP, abbreviating 'Moneta Nova Civitatis Campidone' (New Coin of the City of Kempten). The overall style is characteristic of southern German hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
