Obverse description Central device features the Imperial Austrian double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by an individual crown and both together beneath a larger imperial crown at apex; the eagle bears a central escutcheon on its breast depicting the quartered Austrian arms. The eagle's wings are spread and its talons hold a sword and an orb. The circumferential Latin legend K·K·OESTERREICHISCHE SCHEIDEMÜNZE· runs around the perimeter, bordered on the inside by a dotted ring and on the outside by a rope-and-leaf decorative rim.
