Obverse description Central field displays the arms of Regensburg — two crossed keys (the papal keys of St. Peter, emblematic of the city) surmounted by a decorative foliate ornament, all set within an ornate cartouche with scrollwork surround. The date appears in the upper legend above the shield, and the mintmaster initials IMF are inscribed in the lower field beneath the cartouche. The overall design is rendered in a Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century German municipal coinage.
