Obverse description Two ornate baroque shields displayed side by side within a heart-shaped frame: the dexter shield bears the Imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, while the sinister shield displays the Nuremberg arms (a diagonal bar). The date 1631 is inscribed above the shields in the field. The coin's border is formed by a distinctive roped or beaded rim typical of hammered coinage of the period.
